Fred A. Heimstra (b. 1915, Chicago, Illinois-d. Nov. 1, 1996), U.S. Air Force officer, entered the U.S. Army in 1940 after finishing medical school. Larry Allen Smith (b. 1913, Noonan, N.D.-d. June 18, 2009), U.S. Air Force officer, received his doctor of medicine degree in 1939 and began his military career that same year.
